(Photo: Jonathan Maus/BikePortland)

Welcome to the weekend everyone.

I know it’s only Thursday, but I recently read an article that said in today’s disrupted world of work from home and hybrid office, Thursday is the new Friday. It’s not good news for news editors (haha!), but it’s good news for everyone.

If you want to take a leap into planning your weekend, scroll down for our event and ride picks. But first… Today’s weekend guide is sponsored by the Electrify Expo taking place in Seattle Saturday and Sunday. This is where all the cool e-kids will be. More on this and many more below…

Social Service Ride – 1:00 PM at Director Park (SW)
Our friends at BikeLoud PDX make rides that stretch the genre far beyond frivolous fun and cheesy. During this ride, they will visit downtown social service providers with the aim of broadening perspectives and introducing cyclists to people who help homeless Portlanders. More info here.

**Featured Event** Electrify Expo – 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the University of Washington (Seattle)
Don’t miss the largest electric vehicle exhibit in North America. This event will be your one-stop-shop for all things EV, including bikes, boards, scooters and more. Take the train and make it a weekend, and don’t forget to rock out at the stand of local bike company Vvolt. More info here.

Vancouver Courthouse Criterium – All Day Downtown Vancouver (WA)
Here’s a great excuse to venture out on the Columbia and explore Vancouver’s many charms. Check out the I-5 bridge, hang out on their excellent waterfront (and wonder why Portland is so far behind), then pedal a bit north for fast and exciting bike races. If you’re curious about racing, they’ll even have a criterium clinic at 9:00 a.m. More info here.

Asian Snacks and Friendship Walk – 10:30 AM at Peninsula Park (N)
The return of this popular ride will be an easy pedal where you stop at several markets to try some fun Asian snacks. More info here.

Beaverton Bike Ride – 4:00 PM at Merlo Rd / 185th MAX Station (Beaverton)
Join Beaverton City Councilman Kevin Teater on a ride on off-street trails to the Beaverton Night Market. Expect an 11-mile ride with a family-friendly route and pace. More info here.

ATV Clinic – 9:00 a.m. at Rocky Point Trails (Scappoose)
Join the NW Trail Sisters for this intermediate-advanced skills clinic where you’ll get instruction on how to nail the trails with confidence. Pre-registration required and they are asking for a $10 donation to NW Trail Alliance. Open to anyone who identifies as female and non-binary. 18+. More info here.

Bike Grilled – 12:00 PM at Ladd Circle (SE)
It’s the season ! This classic ride is exactly what it sounds like. These folks love to attach racks to their bikes (in every way you can imagine) and cook. They also happen to be some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Or should I say meat. Bring a grill or bring something to grill. More info here.

As always, check the BP calendar for more entries and have fun!
