Update of the steam locomotive of Lake Bala during the reopening of the railway

April 2021 has been a very busy month for the Lake Bala Railway, with staff and volunteers preparing the entire railway for reopening on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

With the easing of COVID-19 measures, UK heritage railways may start to reopen in recent weeks, with more to be expected in the months to come.

The Lake Bala Railway made many changes and worked to keep the line safe for passengers when it reopened.

Plexiglass screens have been installed around the store and cafe in accordance with UK government advice, along with ‘traffic lights’ to inform people of frequentation in certain areas before entering.

The platform canopy has been repainted, the office has been refurbished and a brand new roof has been built over the picnic area.

The Llangower Group was formed with a focus on the servicing and maintenance of the Llangower Station, located halfway along the line.
