Steam is set to return this weekend, with the Railway Touring Company saying their Royal Duchy tour should be ‘diesel assisted’ rather than diesel hauled.
6233 Duchess of Sutherland are expected to operate the tour from Bristol Temple Meads on Sunday July 31, 2022.
Departing Bristol Temple Meads at 08.12am, the tour will pass through Yatton (08.32am), Taunton (09.10am), Tiverton Parkway (09.37am), Exeter St Davids (10.19am), Dawlish Warren (10.00am). 42), Totnes (11:09 a.m.) and Plymouth at 11:49 a.m.
Here, a diesel takes over. This will continue until Saltash (12.30pm), Liskeard (12.46pm), Bodmin Parkway (12.58pm) and Par at 1.12pm.
The diesel will take the return journey back to Plymouth, departing Par at 4.05pm, the tour will pass through Bodmin Parkway (4.15pm), St Germans (4.36pm) and Plymouth at 5.00pm.
With 6233 Duchess of Sutherland back on the train, the tour will depart at 5.30pm and travel via Ivybridge (5.49pm), Newton Abbot (6.18pm), Dawlish Warren (6.31pm), Exeter St Davids (7.04pm), Tiverton Parkway (7.49pm) ), Taunton (8:05 p.m.), Yatton (8:43 p.m.) and Bristol Temple Meads at 9:06 p.m.
