Southern rail company published several messages regarding the incident at 6:55 p.m. this evening, with services between Havant and Southampton severely disrupted until all lines reopened at 9 p.m.
A spokesperson for Southern Railways said: ‘One person was struck by a train in the Portchester area around 6:55 p.m. tonight.
âReplacement rail buses were running between Fareham and Fratton, Eastleigh and Southampton respectively.
“ We have accepted tickets with the Stagecoach 700 bus between Chichester and Portsmouth, and with the Brighton & Hove buses between Brighton and Shoreham-by-Sea. ”
In a message posted to Twitter earlier in the evening, a representative for the rail operator said: ‘It is with great sadness that we report that a person has been struck by a train between Havant and Southampton. ”

The incident affected services passing through Hilsea, Cosham, Portchester, Fareham, as well as Swanwick, Bursledon, Hamble and the rest of the line to Southampton Central.
Services via Portsmouth and Southsea have undergone changes and delays.
Hampshire Police have been contacted for further information on the incident.
