‘Make in India’ gets a boost with Vande Bharat Express: report

New Delhi [India]Apr 07 (ANI): The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express has given a solid boost to Indian Railways according to a report in a Saudi publication.
Large numbers of people in India still use trains, even for longer distances, and average ridership exceeds the population of nearly 95% of countries, according to Saudi Gazette.
The Vande Bharat Express, India’s first semi-fast intercity EMU, was initially operated on only two routes. It was designed and manufactured in accordance with the Make in India initiative over an 18-month period, according to the Saudi publication.
India’s first semi-fast intercity EMU was initially launched from New Delhi Railway Station, which covers the distance at a maximum operational speed of 160 km/h. Vande Bharat has a regenerative braking system that saves up to 30% electrical energy. All coaches are equipped with automatic doors, a GPS-based audio-visual passenger information system, an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot for entertainment purposes and extremely comfortable seats. Even the toilets have been designed to help reduce the carbon footprint and are bio-vacuum in nature.
Each coach has a dedicated pantry to cater to different passenger requirements and can even provide hot food for passengers.

Vande Bharat has a total seating capacity of 1,128 in 16 air-conditioned coaches, according to the Saudi publication.
The publication further states that under the “Make in India” program, the original price of each unit is estimated to be 40% cheaper than a similar unit that would be imported from Europe. He further said that it is a great testament to India’s talent for innovation.
According to Saudi Publication, Vande Bharat seems to be another transport service project to push the Indian standard towards the international standard.
The Government of India aims to introduce 75 Vande Bharat worldwide and also within 75 weeks after the 75th Independence Day i.e. setting the deadline as July 2023.
The post highlighted Union Budget 2022 where it was announced that 400 more Vande Bharat trains would be manufactured in the next 3 years.
Vande Bharat is a kind of trial and forerunner of the high-speed train project which is expected to reach India no later than 2027. India” was given a new boost through this project.
The publication praised Indian express Vande Bharat and reported that India is creating a new story when it comes to connectivity with remote parts of the country. (ANI)
