Pervert Keith Turner sexually abused seven girls over a period of more than 30 years. The 84-year-old was obsessed with masturbation and forced his young victims to perform sexual acts on him “for his own selfish sexual gratification”.
Its abuse had a profound effect on its victims. One attempted suicide at the age of 15 and another suffered a nervous breakdown which caused her to lose her job.
Now Turner has been jailed for nine years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. Prosecutor Antony Longworth said seven girls were victimized by the defendant between 1970 and 2002.

The pensioner performed a sexual act in front of his victims and made some touch him, including, in one incident, during a floor walk.
A victim, now in her 50s, read a moving statement in court in which she said: “I was scared. I didn’t tell anyone for fear of being incredulous. In 2007, I had a nervous breakdown. as a result of the blackout, i lost the job i loved and had for 20 years.
“You took advantage of the situation and my vulnerability to get your own sexual gratification and I will never forgive you for that. I will never forgive you for that.”
Turner, of Warwick Close, Kidsgrove, pleaded guilty to indecent assault on a girl under 16; four offenses of gross indecency with a girl under 14; and nine charges of indecent assault on a girl under 14.
Mitigating Paul Cliff said the defendant, a former British Rail fitter, had been battling prostate cancer for eight years and was only expected to live another 18 months.
He said Turner’s guilty pleas saved victims from the ordeal of testifying at trial. Mr Cliff said: “He’s so sorry. It’s something he wants me to communicate again to the court and to the victims.
“The offenses lasted from 33 to 65 years. There have been no offenses in the last 19 or 20 years.”
Judge Graeme Smith said: ‘The only reason you have no prior convictions is because your victims have carried the burden of your abuse against them for a very long time, in some cases up to 50 years, and have not. not reported out of shame, embarrassment, fear or pressure. You have damaged so many innocent lives.
“A number of victims said they blamed themselves to some extent for what happened. It was not their fault. Each of them was a young child. You were an adult.
“It seems clear that you had an obsession or addiction to masturbation. I just hope that in some way this day will be a turning point in each of their lives.”
Turner was placed on an indefinite Sexual Offense Prevention Order (SHPO) and placed on the Sex Offender Registry for life.
